In motorsports, on-track performance is significantly impacted by the financial resources and backing of the team. Team Halton Hills was launched by Georgetown-based H3R Human Resources Services as a grass-roots initiative to support Halton Hills-based driver Peter Kocandrle as he chases the Canadian and North American Rally Championships in the exciting 2WD class.
Team Halton Hills is an initiative that enables even small businesses to get involved in a racing program at a very low cost. While primarily focused on developing local support for Peter within his home town of Halton Hills, we will welcome participation from any interested organization regardless of location. Through this sponsorship initiative, participating businesses receive a great marketing and networking opportunity, increased local profile and a variety of other benefits based on their sponsorship level.
Involvement with and support of motorsports is a proven way to increase exposure of your organization and tap into some of the most loyal consumers there are. The Canadian and North American Rally Championships are comprised of events in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and BC, as well as Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Maine, Washington and Oregon. In 2012, Peter will be running at least 4 Canadian and 2 US events as required to pursue both Championships. Closest to home, the Rally of the Tall Pines in Bancroft, ON runs in November of each year and is the final event of the Canadian and North American Championships. Strong local attendance and press coverage is enjoyed, including being featured on TSN as part of their coverage of all six Canadian Championship Events. Print and television is augmented by web coverage on several rally and racing websites such as flatovercrest.com, which has covered Peter numerous times.

Peter Kocandrle has steadily become a driver to watch in the Canadian Rally Championship. With several notable finishes in the National and Provincial Championships, 'PK' has caught the eye of many fans and competitors with his skill, will to win and charismatic personality. Peter's love for auto racing came at an early age, however it would take him some time to get involved in the sport and start competing. His passion for rally racing began around the same time that Colin McRae captured the world title in 1998.
A great surprise and opportunity came when he realized that he lived 20-minutes from Georgetown's Four Star Motorsports, owned by six-time Canadian Rally Champions, Frank and Dan Sprongl. After a few visits to the shop there was no doubt that he wanted to learn more about the sport and started working under the supervision of Dan and Frank in 2002. It only took one glimpse of a rally car for Peter to know he was going to be a rally driver.
PK's first experience behind the wheel was in a rally-cross car in 2005 and his competitiveness was evident right from the beginning. A class win and 4th place overall would further increase his appetite for rally racing. After saving the necessary money, Peter bought his first rally car, a 1991 Suzuki Swift GT, built by Four Star. Following meticulous preparation of the car, Peter set off to compete in the 2008 Black Bear Rally in Dorset, Ontario. In the co-driver's seat was Dan Sprongl, one of Canada's most experienced and successful co-drivers. Once again, Peter drove to a class win and 8th place overall. One of Peter's most notable results was a class win and 8th place overall in his first national event, the 2008 Rally of the Tall Pines, with co-driver Jim Brandt.
Peter's 2010 2WD season was plagued with mechanical issues but highlighted by an excellent performance in the HotBits Sport Suspensions Volkswagen R32 (AWD). Alongside Peter in the co-driver's seat was Alex Kihurani, from Philadelphia, PA. In PK's first event in Open Class, they piloted the VW R32 to a ninth overall, further demonstrating Peter's ability to compete.
2011 was a transition year for Peter, purchasing a very fast 1997 Volkswagen Golf Mk3 and spending most of the season testing and refining the car, as well as putting together his team and sponsors in order to start a run at the 2012 Canadian and North American Championships. Numerous hours in the shop, on the dyno, road testing and trying out new parts and configurations in race conditions at the Black Bear and Tall Pines rallies have car and driver ready to go in 2012.
Peter has a fantastic support team in Open Road Motorsports, great sponsors and has lined up talented co-drivers including Angela Cosner and Alex Kihurani to help him to the podium. The only thing missing is you...join Team Halton Hills and be a part of our winning team!
